A Welcome Message from Dr. O’Neill
Dear Horizon Montessori IV Families,
Welcome back! We are thrilled to begin a new school year with so many familiar faces we already know and love — and just as thrilled to welcome the many new families joining our community. This is going to be our best year ever at HM4! We have exciting new initiatives to accelerate your child’s learning while making our campus more vibrant than ever.
This year’s teaching staff is truly exceptional. When hiring new teachers over the summer, my first priority was finding people who will love and care for our students as deeply as we do. I’m proud to say that our team is second to none. Safety remains our top mission, and that includes ensuring every child feels secure, valued, and supported. Each teacher was chosen not only for expertise in their subject, but for a heart committed to nurturing a lifelong love of learning.
Here’s what’s new and exciting this year:
Specialized Instruction:
Grades 2–8 will have separate teachers for Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
Grades 5–8 will also have a dedicated Social Studies teacher.
Physical Education: All students, including Pre-K, will enjoy PE daily.
STEM & Montessori Focus:
Grades 2–8 will participate in STEM Lab as part of their science curriculum.
Montessori will be part of the daily schedule for PK–1st grade.
Daily Mastery Checks: Teachers assess student understanding each day, providing same-day re-teaching for those who need more time and accelerated learning for those ready to move ahead. This individualized approach helps every student grow at their own pace.
We are proud that our campus is projected to earn an 85% “B” on the 2024–25 campus report card — and we are aiming for a 90% “A” this year!
We’re also launching exciting new clubs for Grades 2–8, starting the week of August 18:
Spelling
Math Olympiads
STEM
History
Art
National Elementary Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society
Gardening
Robotics
Bell Choir
This year marks HM4’s 6th anniversary, and I know it will be the greatest year in our history. It’s an honor to lead such a dedicated faculty, staff, and student body.
May your family be blessed with health, happiness, and a super fun year of learning!
Warmly,
Dr. O’Neill
