Welcome back to another great school year!
I am looking forward to an awesome year with our middle school students and staff. This year students are set to have a blast in social studies and become better individuals with our goals and standards at Horizon Montessori.
Some history about me
My name is Miguel Rivera. I was born in Mexico and migrated to the United States at the young age of 7. I have lived most of my life here in the Valley. I attended multiple elementary schools before finally settling at Alvarez Elementary in McAllen. My middle school years were spent at Lincoln Middle School. I was a Warrior for my four years of high school at Nikki Rowe and graduated in 2003. That same year I left for the Navy and served over 8 years. I traveled the world and saw many countries during my time in the military.
I decided to exit the Navy in 2011 and continue my education, as well as to being closer to my daughter. I began my college career at South Texas College where I received my Associates Degree in Kinesiology. After that I continued my Bachelor Degree at UTRGV. I graduated in 2016, Magna Cum Laude. Soon after graduating I became certified in both, Physical Education (EC - 12) and Social Studies (6 - 12).
I have worked for the districts of PSJA, Sharyland, and McAllen ISD before landing at Horizon Montessori. It has been an awesome 6 months so far and I am looking forward to many more in the future.
As a teacher, I believe we are life long learners so I am looking forward to teaching and learning along side your children this year.
Please feel free to contact me about your child at your convenience. Class Dojo is the best form of communication. Please ask your child for details or email me to send you an invitation.
